Company: Beth Hart Designs

Class of: 2012 and 2013

What have you been up to since graduating from Stationery Academy?

A lot! I consider Stationery Academy to be the spark and fuel that lit my fire! I took a good look at what Beth Hart Designs had been in the past and reevaluated EVERYTHING. It led me to taking several big action steps: 1. I reopened my dust-collecting Etsy shop and filled it with new products and designs. 2. I began building a new collection of products and designs that I loved and was proud to show the world. 3. I pretty much shut down the wholesale side of my business to better focus on what I was actually good at doing. 4. I completely rebranded Beth Hart Designs with a refreshed logo, a signature pattern, and a shiny new website! - I still have a lot of work to do, but at least I know the direction I'm heading and why I'm heading there!

How did attending Stationery Academy affect your business?

Stationery Academy completely transformed my way of thinking - it shed a whole new light on how I should look at my business. Before I attended StatAcad, I never really considered myself to be an important piece of the puzzle - I just thought about the products, the designs, the services, the clients, and the sales. But Stationery Academy gave me the time and resources to focus on and reevaluate myself - my values, my strengths, my purpose, my passions, my "why." I basically learned that building a "successful" business and brand happens by building an "Authentic" business and brand. I can't begin to describe how valuable Stationery Academy is and how thankful I am for the opportunity to attend and learn from these amazing creative entrepreneurs!

As an alum, why did you decide to attend Stationery Academy again?

I came back to Stationery Academy as an alum because so much of the ground work was laid in my first attendance that I needed to revisit the material and look at it with a fresh perspective. I spent the entire year following my first visit to StatAcad rebranding and building a collection of designs that I loved - based on my "why." I wanted another opportunity to hear from the amazing speakers and gather even more knowledge because (in my opinion) you can never learn too much! I also came back as an alum because of the wonderful community that you build while attending StatAcad. The incredible people that you meet and the friendships that form are so very valuable.

What was the most valuable lesson you learned - what was your "ah-ha" moment?

I learned that it's so very important to build a brand that represents me and my "why." I left Stationery Academy with a huge sense of relief that I don't have to be everything to everyone. I have to be the very best version of myself, and the right customers will follow!
