A Weekend in Review | Questions to Ask after the Holiday Sale Weekend

Hey, happy post Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday Week!  How are you feeling today? If you are a maker, an artist, or a designer, and you had an offer or sales for this weekend, how did it go? The answer to that question may go one of two ways.  It may go positively, like “oh my goodness, this was our best year yet! It was so busy, it had such a great response, and it was worth all of that hard work to put everything into place! Our phones were cha-chinging like crazy!" Which would be absolutely fantastic, and you’ll want to make sure you can replicate that or more next year.

Spring Creative Founders Conference Recap, Day 1!

There is a very distinct possiblity that I am very giddy in sharing this today.  Every year, when it comes time to write this post, I take a big walk down memory lane, reminiscing over so many of the moments, the friendships, the interactions and the details that make up our Conference every year.  This year, this blog post walkthrough will again be over the course of the next three days, and I'll share a bit about each day with you.

Although our Fall Conference will be taking place at the beach, our time with our Spring Conference taking place at The Lee House for the last three years was one that we absolutely loved.  It is set up as a bed and breakfast, and completely changed the way we want to host our Conference.  We had the entire place to ourselves, and it was really nice to know that we didn't have other vacation-goers mixed in with us - whether people wanted to stay up until 2am chatting on the couches downstairs or brew a cup of coffee at 5am in their pajamas, knowing that we had the space to do so completely to ourselves was just perfect.

We have a New Look!

When I think about the Society for Creative Founders, to me it embodies these three things: community, support, and an element of fun built into all of the learning that takes place in this online space. I want it to feel like a conversation between friends, with a bit of whimsy and fun built right in. Like the creatively designed card that you lovingly write out to a friend and drop in the mail, and of course, be bright, cheery too.

Reviewing this Year Before Planning for 2018

Before we start planning for 2018, it's important to review where we are now.

It’s December of 2017.  And everywhere we are turning, there are two main topics.  One:  The Holidays. Two: 2018.

I love the potential that a new year brings, feeling like you’re starting fresh every year.  However, while we are planning for 2018 and what we want the year to encompass, I also think it’s important to take into consideration everything that happened this year, ask ourselves some questions, and build upon them as well.  So today, I wanted to give you a few questions to go through to reflect upon for the year, to ask yourself before setting your goals for 2018.

Your Core: What Details are you Passionate about in your Business?

What is the reason WHY you do these things?

In asking you this question, I’m not looking for an answer of what you do, or how you do things, or who you make things for.  I’m simply asking you, what is it that you’re passionate about within your business, and what is the reason WHY you do each of these things?

On September 22nd, I’ll be leading a 60 minute class delivered in a webinar format that will help you to Define Your Niche with a simple five step method.  One of the topics I will cover that day will be asking you this question.
