Alumni Spotlight: Stephanie Creekmur of Winnie Jean
We are thrilled to kick off our first Alum Spotlight with the delightful Stephanie Creekmur! Check back soon as we spotlight even more of our amazing alums!
Where are you now? What has your journey since Stationery Academy looked like?
Since attending Stationery Academy (Dallas, August 2013) I have continued to grow my business and online shop. I have found myself a mentor to other creative entrepreneurs/shop owners and I love being able to share what I've learned and pay it forward! I've also been back to Stationery Academy as a speaker two times and I'm so grateful for those opportunities to not only share what I've learned but to also step back and reflect on my business once again.
What has been the highlight of your year?
My business recently underwent a brand restructure/refresh and I am so excited about where we are heading. I have opened up the doors to many more possibilities not only for my lifestyle brand/products but for myself as a designer. Only time will tell just how smart of a move this has been but I am so happy and have no regrets.
Do you have a favorite memory from Stationery Academy?
Oh, there are so many! It's an amazing experience, but I do have to say some of my favorite memories are at the graduation dinners. Jennifer and I always share a tearful moment (wine may have something to do with this!). I'm so thankful for her friendship and mentorship through the years. She is amazing and what she is doing for other entrepreneurs is incredible. So much work goes into each event and she really takes it to the next level. And, because I'm already talking about Jennifer, this past conference (Phoenix, 2015) she made the most awesome comment about Stat Acad. She said, "Just because it's pink doesn't mean it's stupid". That couldn't be more true. A lot of conferences out there ARE all fluff. With Stationery Academy you get education, action steps, community AND all the fluff.
How has Stationery Academy continued to shape your path?
I have my worksheets from all three conferences on my desk each day. It's amazing how often I find myself going back to them. Anytime I start to feel lost I pull out the sections on my core/values and target customer. These help keep me in check because as a creative we love and want to do all the things. I love having a roadmap, that I helped create, guide my path. The SA community is also a big part of my life. I love these ladies and the friendships I've made are invaluable.
What's in your future?
I hope many more years of product creation and I hope to expand my team again. In December I was a team of four and I'm currently (thanks to a move out of state) back to a one woman show. I'm excited to work with a team again and really take Winnie Jean to the next level!
