Alumni Spotlight: Maghon Taylor of All She Wrote Notes
We are so excited for our first Alum Spotlight of 2016 with Maghon Taylor of All She Wrote Notes! Let's see what she's been up to since last year:
Where are you now? What has your journey since Stationery Academy looked like?
I left Stationery Academy in July of 2015 and turned in my notice to my full-time job three weeks later. I knew before I left that this was what I wanted to do, but Stationery Academy gave me the confidence that I could make it happen. My last day at my full-time job was in August, and I have been running All She Wrote Notes full-time ever since. I have never worked harder, but it is SO fulfilling being able to wake up every day and do what you love.
Highlight of your year?
I would say the highlight of my year (besides marrying my middle school sweetheart this May) was taking my business full-time. All She Wrote Notes has grown steadily for the past two years and there came a time over the summer that I was literally working every hour that I was awake. It wasn't sustainable and I realized that I wanted more to life besides work. Once I finally decided to leave my full-time job, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. I feel like I actually get to be present and enjoy the success that I have worked so hard for. I have been offered countless opportunities and larger partnerships that I would never have been able to take on if I was still juggling both careers.
Do you have a favorite memory from SA?
My favorite memory from Stationery Academy was the last night at dinner going around the table and hearing my peers speak on what brought them here and how much they had changed in four short days. I loved meeting everyone and sharing my heart with these women who pour everything they have into their businesses. I continue to be inspired by each and every one of them.
How has SA continued to shape your path?
While I was at Stationery Academy, I met a few women who have since become of my best friends in the business. I am constanly texting back and forth with them and we encourage each other's success. It never feels like competition, it truly feels like we are each other's cheerleaders and we have each other's back. My husband and my friends here at home are amazing, but I don't like to always bore them with business talk. It is amazing to have this network of women who simply "get it" and are right there in the trenches with you!
What's in your future?
All She Wrote Notes is my full time job now. And that's an amazing feeling. I have been so blessed to have come this far and I can't wait to see where my business will go in 2016. I am excited to feel more like I am running my business instead of my business running me. I am excited to take on a few speaking gigs this year and use my heart to encourage other women. I will continue teaching calligraphy classes through my traveling workshop #CalligraphyYall and I am working on some exciting collaborations with a few of my very favorite businesses that will launch this Spring. In the meantime, I am praying I will get better at cooking (ha!) and cleaning around the house I share with my sweet husband and the pup we will welcome this April.
We are so thrilled seeing how far Maghon leaped to take her business full time after attending Stationery Academy! Keep up with her sparkle on Instagram here!
