We are so excited to have Stephanie join us in February as a speaker. You will love her because of her heart, her passion for children living in poverty, her southern charm and ability to navigate Etsy, online shops, branding and more!
What have you been up to since graduating from Stationery Academy?
Since attending Stationery Academy things have pretty much been a blur. An amazing blur. Shortly after I returned, I decided to exhibit at the National Stationery Show with the Stat Acad booth and I am equal parts excited and terrified but so thankful for this awesome opportunity. Had I not attended Stationery Academy there is no way I would be exhibiting at NSS in May. I've been working on lots of new products and have started hand-lettering most everything. It's something I've always loved to do and SA really helped me own it and it's just another way I can infuse more of myself into my brand.
How did attending Stationery Academy affect your business?
I love attending creative conferences and workshops. There is something so special about spending time with 20 other creatives who just get you. I think it's so important to take some time to step away from your business and reevaluate. We are constantly changing and growing and for me I need the time to keep myself on track. Since attending SA I've also added a couple new product offerings to my shop, thanks to suggestions provided and I'm so happy with the vendor relationships that I've been able to make.
What was the most valuable lesson you learned - what was your "ah-ha" moment?
I think for me, this was the first time I was at a creative conference that I didn't feel lost or unsure of myself. I'm so thankful to be in a place where I know who I am and I know the kind of business I want to run. Stationery Academy was one big affirmation for me. I know I'm in the right line of work and I'm so grateful for it. I think I was more open to the information and I just soaked it up like a sponge! I didn't have a lot of the insecurities clouding my brain for once and that was so nice!
What you are most looking forward to as a speaker this February?
I am just so honored to have been asked to be a part of it and I can't wait to meet everyone. I'm also looking forward to taking a timeout from my own business to reflect on this past year and to make some new plans for 2014! It's going to be a big year for my little shop and I'm so excited to be starting it out at SA! I hope that by sharing my story I can help someone see that they aren't alone and that they CAN and WILL do this. Community is key in our line of work and I can't wait to form new relationships!
