How long have you been a business owner, and what do you love the most about being an entrepreneur?
I have been a business owner now for about 7 years. Majority of those years I held a corporate job alongside running my business. "Busy" didn't even touch the surface of how I felt most days, ha! The overall idea that I can create work and sell it to make a living still leaves me speechless. I always wanted to do this, but never thought I could truly live off of it. Waking up every day excited to get to work and live out my passion is what I love most about being an entrepreneur.
Why do you love what you do?
Southern Fried Design Barn's products are all southern-inspired and range from paper products to shirts and kitchen towels. The creative process of designing new products is my favorite part of my job! My happy place is when I'm zoned out for hours on a project with some good music playing. When that little idea I had late at night turns into something that people have in their home or wear on their clothes - that's such a thrill to me and it never gets old!
If you could offer any advice to a Creative Entrepreneur, wherever they may be in their journey, what would it be?
Don't give up. That little voice you hear is there for a reason. You may feel like it's taking you longer than others to get started or to become profitable. Don't compare. I'll be teaching a session on how to present at tradeshows while working a full time job. I did it for years. Don't let the speed of your progress scare you. I'll be sharing how it can be your greatest benefit!
