If you suddenly found yourself with a broken back at 16 years old and saw that your competitive dance days were over, how would you overcome it? Sarah Roberson of The Redheaded Camel turned her pain into paintings and now, has found incredible success as a lettering artist who creates handpainted happiness every single day. She attended our Conference in the Spring of 2018 and returned again in the Fall, and the growth she has seen this year as a both outwardly with her business and intrinsically as an entrepreneur as she continues to move her business forward has been absolutely amazing to watch.Read More
On Wednesday, October 10th, Hurricane Michael made landfall on the Gulf Coast of Florida, as a Category 4 Storm. This is one of the strongest hurricanes ever to reach the US, and the devastation that it caused was catastrophic. With the Society for Creative Founders being based about 2 hours west in Pensacola, Florida, and we want to do our part to help Florida to rebuild.Read More

Over the last few weeks, we've been sharing about each of our Speakers individually and share more about what each of them will be speaking on for our Fall Creative Founders Conference. Today, we have Amy Kinslow of Southern Fried Design Barn on the blog!
Ever since she had the opportunity to work at her local stationery store in high school, Amy Kinslow, owner of Southern Fried Design Barn, knew she wanted to be connected to this field of work. Soon after graduating college with a degree in graphic design, Amy attended the first ever Creative Founders Conference in 2011 with a small idea and a big dream. The conference kick started her business in late 2011.Read More
Over the next few weeks, we’re going sharing about each of our Speakers individually and share more about what each of them will be speaking on for our Fall Creative Founders Conference.
So far, we have introduced Valerie McKeehan of Lily & Val and Erin Kendrick of Erin is Creative. Today, we have Heather O'Brien of Heather O'Brien Design on the blog!
Heather attended the Creative Founders Conference (known then as Stationery Academy) in 2014 and it rocked her business world and truly propelled her business to the next level. She can’t wait to share all that she has learned over the years with you!
This is one of my favorite days every year we have our Conference, because it's the day we have the most aha moments - the day that we take everything that has been learned in the last few days and combine it all together to make a plan moving forward, the day that we celebrate all of the hard work that has been done and get ready for what happens next ... the hard work of being a business owner is never complete, but this day is one that sets up everyone so well for the days that follow after they return home.Read More
As creative business owners, we fall into a very unique space. We are all consumers ourselves and so we know that consumers won’t buy what they can’t see. We know that people are very visually oriented, especially when it comes to pretties, creative goods & art. We also know that we generally only have a handful of seconds to convince people to slow their scroll and pay attention to what it is we’re selling.
Our imagery should tell an authentic & cohesive story across every space that our ideal consumers visit, whether it be our websites or our social media feeds, as these spaces are the “face” of our brand & our products.
Day Two was our first full day at our Conference, and we covered so many different topics this day, it definitely was filled with learning moments left and right. Our speakers either led a main session or a breakout, we had dinner at the beach, and even included headshots for each person as well. By the end of the day today, you could see that the wheels were starting to turn for so many for our attendees, and we loved to see the blossoming friendships beginning to start as well.
There is a very distinct possiblity that I am very giddy in sharing this today. Every year, when it comes time to write this post, I take a big walk down memory lane, reminiscing over so many of the moments, the friendships, the interactions and the details that make up our Conference every year. This year, this blog post walkthrough will again be over the course of the next three days, and I'll share a bit about each day with you.
Although our Fall Conference will be taking place at the beach, our time with our Spring Conference taking place at The Lee House for the last three years was one that we absolutely loved. It is set up as a bed and breakfast, and completely changed the way we want to host our Conference. We had the entire place to ourselves, and it was really nice to know that we didn't have other vacation-goers mixed in with us - whether people wanted to stay up until 2am chatting on the couches downstairs or brew a cup of coffee at 5am in their pajamas, knowing that we had the space to do so completely to ourselves was just perfect.
This month, we’re going to be sharing about each of our Speakers individually and share more about what each of them will be speaking on for our Fall Creative Founders Conference. We are continuing this series today with the powerful Erin Kendrick of Erin is Creative!
Erin is a visual artist from Jacksonville, Florida who’s color rich, acrylic ink-stained works of art seek to inspire a dialogue about contemporary spectatorship and the power of language as it relates to perceptions of and about black women. She has exhibited work in museums, galleries and alternative spaces throughout the southeastern United States. Erin has completely come into her own, distinctive, entirely unique element as an artist, and she is someone I am thrilled will be with us at the Conference this fall.
A small handful of entrepreneurs know the power of attending Conferences, Workshops, and Retreats, and go every year.
And a lot of entrepreneurs, for whatever reasons they may be, do not. We will buy online courses, classes, and attend online webinars all day long, but going to anything in-person has lot lower of a chance of it actually happening.
Why is that? The power of attending an in-person event gives you something that all of these online offerings do not, and that's something that I want talk about today. So below, I wanted to write a post sharing with you why I think that attending an in-person event is not only important, but should be a vital item you include in your business as an entrepreneur.
After reading, let us know your thoughts on if you find these same things to be true!

We are so thrilled to share that Registration is open for our 2018 Conference!
This Fall's Conference is better than ever, with 16 sessions and 7 speakers for the 20 women who join us as attendees.
We are so excited to share a few more details about our upcoming Fall Conference Experience with you today!
This fall is going to be different in a lot of ways .... so today we wanted to share a lot of those details with you!
When I think about the times that we have been able to bring people together, I think about the relationships that have formed that have instantly become strong, steadfast, and continue to grow long after the initial goodbyes are spoken, those same relationships that have lasted for years after people first said their hellos and introduced themselves.
And when I think about our Conference, I want it to be a place where things come together beautifully, in a way that changes the way you look at running your business and living your life at the same time, in the best way possible.
To the 20 women who joined us and the 7 speakers who poured their hearts into the attendees when they were there, I hope that this week left you feeling changed, uplifted, and more than anything else, ready for the next step that is running an amazing creative business. At a later date we will do a full recap of all of the details for our Conference, but for today, I wanted to share my thoughts with you in the form of a letter to the attendees. Enjoy!Read More
When I think about the Society for Creative Founders, to me it embodies these three things: community, support, and an element of fun built into all of the learning that takes place in this online space. I want it to feel like a conversation between friends, with a bit of whimsy and fun built right in. Like the creatively designed card that you lovingly write out to a friend and drop in the mail, and of course, be bright, cheery too.Read More
