6 Pillars of a Successful Creative Business: Your Plan
We’re in the middle of a series of the 6 Pillars of a Successful Creative Business. These are the key areas that I believe you need to focus on to have a solid foundation in order to grow your business: Core, Client, Brand, Money, Call, and Plan. This week, the last week, we’re focusing on Your Plan.
You have big dreams for your business, and it’s fun to think big—to imagine where you could go and how much fun you could have getting there. But when you get right down to it, there are a lot of things you have to do to get there—and every day, you add more things to your to-do list.
It’s way too easy to get overwhelmed and end up flying by the seat of your pants—being reactive rather than proactive—which we all know is a pretty bad feeling. So this pillar, Your Plan, is all about pulling together your ideas and dreams and all the things you need to do in a way that allows you to take concrete action.
In the Course, Intensive, and Conference, we help you to do this by listing and measuring your goals for the next year, identifying the categories you need to focus on in your business, understanding the difference between your to-do list and the tasks that you need to do to reach your goals, and by creating and reaching measurable, tactical goals.
We think this is a really important Pillar for a number of reasons, but one of the biggest—and you’ll hear us say this a lot—is that learning is just learning until you take action. Without action, you’re simply acquiring knowledge. But if you choose to take action, that’s when impossible becomes possible... then probable... then real.
We talk more about Your Plan and how to take action in our 18-PAGE GUIDE WITH 8 WORKSHEETS devoted to the 6 Pillars, including a plan worksheet. You can download the free guide and worksheets here.
