Marketing Your Business
We're introducing our Creative Founders conference speakers and today, Olivia Omega is sharing more about herself and her journey! ⠀ ⠀
Hi everyone! I'm Olivia and I'm beyond excited to be speaking about marketing your business at the upcoming Creative Founders conference. My mission in life is to encourage everyone to dance to the beat of their own brand! And to make life one big dance party! I am the author of Beautifully Branded: The Girl's Guide to Personal Branding and have been in love with everything entrepreneurial my entire life. I started sewing at 7 and began my first craft business at age 13. It was the Build-A-Bear concept before Build-A-Bear was big! Since then, I've retired my sewing machine and needles and thread to focus on giving creative entrepreneurs the tools needed to successfully build their businesses online and offline through branding, marketing and social media strategy, and by creating branded transformational and experiential websites. In my spare time (LOL), I am raising a teenager and 2 pre-teens with my entrepreneur husband in Denver, CO. ⠀
"N" is for November! I love this time of year! It's the time of transition and transformation. Seasons are changing, the leaves are almost gone and we prep for snow. The magic of this time of year is in the fact that as things die, they are preparing the way for new life. November is when I can evaluate the past year and determine what worked, not only for my business, but for me and my family. What elevated my brand, my body and my spirit. And what things should die off to make way for new possibilities? I can shed the weight of what doesn't serve me to make room for the birth of new life. I want to encourage you to evaluate where you are and where you want to go this month. Because sky's the limit! #november #newlife
Sometimes things don't go as planned. I can say this for every aspect of my life. And as a major planner, this was a hard pill to swallow. From my career and business to my marriage and children, nothing has gone according to my plans. And when things have crumbled, I learned to pick up the pieces, whip out the Krazy glue and keep moving. At my house I have a disco ball hanging in the dining room (I own lots of them). I love them because you can turn any situation into a party. When my favorite disco ball broke, it was a reminder that when you put the pieces back together, no one can tell they were broken in the first place. We are all going to go through rough times in life and in business. But just keep dancing. The results will surprise you! #dontstop #youcandoit
In my past life, my line of baby clothes was featured in USA Today, Entrepreneur, Business Week, People and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. But, I give all glory to God. Regardless of the success we've had, we always tend to doubt how good we are, how amazing we really are. With over 14 years of traditional advertising, digital marketing and branding experience I doubt my abilities daily. As women, we are constantly comparing ourselves to other women, moms, entrepreneurs, bloggers, etc. She's prettier than me. Her products are better than mine. She seems like she has it all together. I don't have as many fans or followers as her. She probably gets more unique monthly page views than me. But remember that you are amazing! And you possess a special something that no other woman has. You can't be copied or duplicated. Therefore you are incredibly incomparable! Boom! #nocompetition #beyou
Marketing takes planning and focus. I’ve owned several handmade businesses and I can honestly say that I lacked a strategic marketing plan. I threw a lot of things at the wall to see if they would stick, I took a lot of risks and sort of stumbled upon things that worked. As creative entrepreneurs, we get so bogged down in the making, creating and even the selling of our products that we neglect the planning. And the lack of strategic planning is the most common reason why businesses fail. This is one of many reasons why I love the Creative Founders conference so much! Strategy is a key component. I'll be walking attendees through the elements of a marketing plan. And we'll be creating your plan right there on the spot! Most importantly, you'll leave with a plan...actual action steps to take immediately. Who's ready?
